Exploring NDT Solutions for Wind Turbine Blades at 2025 Beijing International Wind Energy Conference: Surface Inspection Current Status and Deep Structural Testing Prospects
At the 2025 Beijing International Wind Energy Conference & Exhibition, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for nondestructive testing (NDT) of wind turbine blades were on display.
These UAVs and UGVs, as shown in the exhibits, are equipped with cameras, enabling only surface inspection of the blades. Regrettably, they fall short in detecting internal defects and cracks within the blades.
DeepLyzer has engaged in in-depth discussions with relevant companies to explore the feasibility of equipping these devices with millimeter-wave probes. By leveraging depth imaging technology, they aim to achieve nondestructive testing of the deep structures and defects of the blades, thereby facilitating preventive maintenance and extending the service life of wind energy assets.
